Richard Branson says “Don’t Multitask”

Recently I wrote about the fact that multitasking is not possible.

It turns out that Richard Branson, self-made billionaire and owner of the Virgin Group, agrees with my thinking

He writes, “You must manage your Blackberry; do not let it manage you.”

This is exactly what is taught in the Improving Performance and Results (IPR) program. In fact, there is an entire module dedicated to Time Management. The title explains the entire concept: Manage Yourself, Not Time.

In other words, whatever it is that you are trying to accomplish, you have to be the one in control. Time itself cannot actually be managed (it keeps going whether we want it to or not).

You can only mange yourself and what you do with the time that you have. All of us have the same 24 hours in a day, seven days per week, 365 days a year. The question is, how are you going to use it?
